Alessandro Medici

CTO
Power-Blox AG

Alessandro Medici studied at the School of Engineering in Basel, followed by Postgraduate Studies in Business Engineering Management at the University of Applied Science Northwestern Switzerland and a CAS in Energy Economics at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

He worked in various functions with a focus on software development in local and international companies. Before moving to the energy industry, Alessandro Medici was a senior consultant and project manager for large companies in the field of Internet technologies, taxonomies and data management. After more than twenty years of experience in the ICT environment, he decided to move into the field of sustainable energy - especially solar energy and hybrid mini grids in developing countries. After first projects in Kenya, he founded Enda Solar Ltd. in Tanzania and implemented numerous solar-based mini grids in Tanzania, Pakistan, Nepal and Switzerland. This work gave rise to the idea of swarm electrification, on which he has been concentrating since 2015 as co-founder and CTO of Power-Blox Ltd. In three years of research and development in this field, the product Power-Blox PBX-200 was developed, the world's first swarm-based solar battery system.

In the meantime, as the inventor of the swarm electrification approach, he has won numerous international prizes and nominations and is currently rolling out the innovative approach based on scalable business models in various African countries such as Angola, Mali, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burkina Faso. He combines the bottom-up swarm approach with new IoT communication concepts, cloud-based data systems and pay-as-you-go approaches with integrated mobile payment systems.
