Differ Group

Kjetil Røine has worked within the climate and energy business for 20+ years, both from the commercial/technical side, the advisory side and the academic side. Holding a PhD in industrial ecology, Kjetil has an analytical approach to complex issues to achieve operative/practical - but still principal - solutions. Over the last years, Kjetil has worked with last-mile distribution systems for solar home systems and clean cookstoves for Bottom-of-the-Pyramid (BoP) customers in Indonesia, Pakistan, Kenya, Senegal and Zambia - including financial solutions, customer demand and behaviour aspects and well as logistics. Moreover, as an advisor to large private utilities and public authorities, Kjetil has during the last 7 years been part of ground-breaking work on developing operational results-based financing schemes - how to most efficiently use public money to ensure that vital, scalable and competitive markets for sustainable and distributed energy services are created.

Mr Røine has been managing Differ's recent work on electrifying rural health facilities in Zambia, under UNDP's Solar4Health project. He has significant experience in implementing such projects, including engineering, installation, logistics, training of local staff and structures for after sale services.

Prior to Differ, Kjetil was the Head of Research Analysis at Point Carbon for several years, and has in-depth knowledge on global and regional climate policies, as well as both market and non-market mechanisms, including the mitigation and business potential in implementing off-grid, small-scale renewable energy solutions.
